Poster-Award

Poster Award at GBS2016

At GBS2016 poster sessions about 120 researchers had presented their innovative projects and results. It is a good tradition of the GBS to nominate the best poster of each topic and to award a prize.

The Posters were evaluated during the guided poster sessions by designated experts in the field of radiation biology. Each assessor had to guided about 10 different posters and each poster was be evaluated by 3 assessors.

Afterwards the grades were calculated and the best poster of each session was determined:

Topic 1, DNA damage and related responses induced by ionizing and non-ionizing radiation

Winner: Prof. Dr. Anna Friedl, München

Title: Cell cycle and dose dependent recruitment of PCNA to Carbon particle irradiation induced DNA double-strand breaks
Affiliation: Department of Radiation Oncology, Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich, München, Germany

Topic 2, Radiation responses of cells and tissues: from local events to systemic effects with emphasis on preclinical animal models of radiation therapy and response

Winner: Dr. Christin Glowa, Heidelberg

Title: Carbon ion radiotherapy decreases the impact of tumor heterogeneity on radiation response in experimental prostate tumors
Affiliation: Department of Radiation Oncology, University Hospital Heidelberg, Heidelberg, Germany

Topic 3, Radiation risk, cancer induction and anti-cancer reactions: the tumor and its microenvironment

Winner: Mrs. Sylvia Falcke, Erlangen

Title: Human peripheral immune cells strongly differ in their radiosensitivity
Affiliation: Department of Radiation Oncology, Universitätsklinikum Erlangen, Erlangen, Germany

Topic 4, Biomarkers and strategies to modify radiation responses as well as imaging the effects of radiation exposure

Winner: Herr Daniel Heylmann, Mainz
